Burnishing floor finish is helpful for two reasons. Burnishing the floor place the burnisher with pad attached in position. Because burnishing abrasively removes the film you run the risk of prematurely damaging or wearing out floor tile without applying an adequate number of coats of finish. First it makes floor finish shine but more important it makes the floor easier to keep clean.

Multiple coats of finish result in a smooth surface that reflects light in an ordered regular pattern to create high gloss. Spray buffing and burnishing will both polish a floor but use differe. Without proper maintenance hard surface floors tend to lose their quality and sheen. Pay special attention to the edges and corners where stripper residue will collect and contaminate the floor sealer or sealer finish.

Instead of moving side to side burnishers operate in a straight line going back and forth. Floor burnishing is done with a rotary machine that has a pad turning speed of more than 1000 rpm but more commonly done at 1500 to 2000 rpm. Always start the burnisher in a leaned back position so the pad is not touching the floor. And with high amounts of traffic your flooring is prone to dirt.

Burnishers look similar to buffers but are much heavier which provides added pressure to help produce a wet look shine. Using a floor burnisher you can give your wood floor a high gloss shine restoring the wet look that usually results only from a newly laid finish. Damp mop the floor to neutralize and thoroughly cleanse the floor surface.
